Cruisin through Word on the Street

(Right) Building on the U of T campus

Yesterday on my way to Auntie Carol's I saw a father and daughter walking home together. The Dad was carrying two grocery bags and his daughter challenged him to a race back to the house. It was so cute to watch them run down the street together grocery bags flying. The father kept step with his 5 year old daughter but allowed her to tag the car first so she could say she won. It was so adorable.

This week-end the gang was out on a boat cruise of the harbour to celebrate Shawn and Allie's engagement. We had a wonderful buffet dinner of chicken, roast beef, eggplant parmesean, tossed salad and rice. Top it off with a decadent chocolate cake and some fruit. After that we were all up on the top deck dancing to Home for a Rest by Spirit of the West. That has quickly become our song whenever we're out somewhere together dancing. Someone always requests it and we always dance and sing along LOUDLY. I can just imagine what the people below deck thought of all the pounding.

Frances requested a song for Allie and Shawn to dance to and shortly thereafter all the couples took the dance floor. Besides our group there were a ton of couples on board. There were two 40th anniversary couples there and it seemed to me that was a good omen for Shawn and Allie. I think the two of them will have a long and happy marriage. The two are well matched and you can tell when you see them together how much they love one another. The rest of us should be so lucky.

After the boat docked we all went to Pier 4 for a drink and a chance to just chat. It gave me time to catch up with Frances since I haven't seen her and Adam in quite a while. The two of us sipped our long island iced teas and caught up. We also discussed the cruise but we will have a more formal meeting with everyone on Friday and hopefully nail down some details.

Sunday I met Auntie Carol and we went to our friend Pat's house. She had us over for lunch at her new condo. Pat and Auntie Carol are such great friends to me. Both of them made my move here so much easier. Pat is Auntie Carol's Yoga partner and I met her while I was staying with Auntie Carol when I first moved here. Pat was downsizing to move condos and she gave me a TON of kitchen stuff to help me out once I moved into my place.
